If you are Navy, Airforce or Coastguard you will be what they call a day Zero sucks to suck but you will be starting the infantry OSUT on Day zero and doing the whole 24 weeks including the red phase.ĭay Zeros tend to pick up quicker than inserts why to be honest I’m not entirely sure seems like they are still working out the kinks for inserts. Insert meaning you will be inserted somewhere after red phase which is the army break down raw recruit phase, they say you will be inserted at week 5 but I’ve heard of people who have been inserted at week 9 just depends on luck. If you are coming from the marines (oorah) Army or National guard within I believe a five year break from your service, you will be what they call an insert. I’ll start off with the separation between services. I would also like to add this is not to discourage people or talk bad about the army, this is just my experience and again trying to get more information out there for people to make informed decisions.įor those who didn’t know the Army Infantry no longer has an AIT they now do OSUT (One Station Unit Training) meaning new recruits (or trainees as they like to call them) will go to basic training and what was AIT in one session instead of breaking up the process, which is a little confusing where certain prior service members fit into the program.

As I am writing this I was part of the USMC and going into Army MOS 11x currently in the holding company but will update this with more information as I progress along trying to keep my fellow prior service informed. I am writing this to throw some more information out there on the internet for prior service joining the army 11x 18x or 19D MOS you will most likely need to go to Army Infantry OSUT, I found little knowledge on the subject and what to expect as well as my recruiters had no idea what the process is. r/army /r/navy /r/usmc /r/uscg /r/airforce r/nationalguard r/airnationalguard/ /r/britishmilitary /r/CanadianForces /r/AustralianMilitary /r/TheRoyalNavy /r/Bundeswehr More Related Subreddits If you have a general enquiry or would like to find out more, call 07 or email Subreddits
